I am student teaching this fall as a Music Ed major K-4 and later as an 8th grade math teacher. I will graduate
December 12th from Union University, Summa cum Laude, with three teaching certificates: Music Edcuation k-12; Elementary
Ed. and Middle School Ed.
On December 19th I will marry Greg Shawgo. We met this past Spring,
were engaged July 4th and the rest they say, is history. I plan to continue to promote my program, A.I.M.S.: Academic
Improvement through Musical Studies, by incorporating music into the everyday classroom no matter what subject I am teaching.
As budget cuts reduce music programs in schools, it is important to implement music into the core academics where ever possible.
I believe it to be the key to academic success.
I have retired from competing and will be
crowning my successor to Miss Nashville, September 19th. I wish all of my fellow Miss Tennesse titleholders the best
as they pursue their goals.
